'Lights Down' initiative in Japan--June 21 & July 7


43,382 facilities will turn their lights down on June 21, and 43,397 facilities on July 7. (as of June 13).

According to the estimate issued by the Japanese Ministry of the Environment, due to the lights-down campaign, 452,771.05 kilowatt per hour of electricity will be saved on June 21, and 527,085.48 kilowatt per hour on July 7.

The number of participating facilities and organizations is increasing. Major landmarks including Tokyo Tower and Rainbow Bridge will dim their lights, too.
