Japan's Ministry of the Environment (MOE) will hold a nationwide "Lights Down" and CO2 reduction campaign nicknamed "Black Illumination 2006" on June 18, 2006.

About 38,000 facilities all over Japan, including major landmarks such as the Tokyo Tower, Tokyo Station, and business facilities including shopping centers, will participate in the campaign. The MOE lends its official support for Candle Night.
